The Planning Workshop on Translating the Words of the Buddha (Tibetan to Chinese and Chinese to Tibetan) was held at Robert Black College, University of Hong Kong翻譯社 on May 26-28翻譯社 2012. The conference explored the possibility of cross-translations of the Chinese Tripitaka and the Tibetan Kangyur and Tengyur, with the aim of completing both canons.
This conference翻譯社 organized by Khyentse Foundation in cooperation with other organizations翻譯社 was attended by more than 20 scholars and representatives from Bhutan, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong翻譯社 India, Singapore翻譯社 Taiwan翻譯社 and the United States.

PLANNING TO CROSS-TRANSLATE THE CHINESE TRIPITAKA AND THE TIBETAN KANGYUR

On the Tibetan Buddhist Resource Center website (tbrc.org), you can access writings by Tibetan masters on religion, philosophy翻譯社 medicine, astrology, astronomy, alchemy, art翻譯社 history, geography翻譯社 biography, folk culture, poetry, and more. Founded in 1999 by Gene Smith to preserve, organize, and disseminate Tibetan literature, TBRC is a modern digital library unlike any other.
With continued funding from Khyentse Foundation, TBRC is transforming these priceless texts into digital documents that can be viewed on the internet, as PDF files翻譯社 on flash drives, or as printed copies, by monasteries, universities, and scholarship and translation projects around the world.


As the Khyentse Foundation Award for Excellence in Buddhist Studies enters its third year, it's clear that the 20 recipients to date in 10 universities worldwide are truly the Buddhist scholars, translators, and researchers of the future.
Venerable Karmananda, a Buddhist monk born in Bangladesh翻譯社 who received the award at the University of Hong Kong in 2011, says "Such awards indeed become sources of renewed inspiration, continuous aspiration, and much-needed encouragement for the recipients to go forward in their learning. I am glad Khyentse Foundation is standing for these ideals!"
